  • Define event management process to integrate this service with your in-house operational people, processes, and tools.
  • Monitor appropriate objects/counters, services, and events; establish threshold values; configure alerts when thresholds are exceeded; and classify alerts to mitigate white noise.
  • Integrate with your ticketing system so incidents can be auto-generated from alerts, per severity.
  • Establish a systems health and performance baseline against which ongoing health and performance will be measured.
  • Manage systems health and performance in alignment with the baseline, and adjust as appropriate.
  • Map systems to business functions, to report metrics and correlations in business terms that speak to functional leaders.
  • Report on the metrics that matter:  weekly reports with traffic-light metrics, monthly reports that highlight metrics patterns, quarterly reports that highlight patterns and risk areas.
